MOTOR DEVELOPMENT
Physical development refers to gradually gaining control over gross (large) and fine (small) muscles.
The exciting result of developing new motor skills is that is leads a young child to make other new discoveries.
As they explore, they begin to make sense of their environment.
Children have a natural instinct for movement.
Movement activities are important because they help children develop motor skills.
Moving to music is equally important because it helps children experience movements as it relates to music and rhythm.
Music & Learning
There is something special about music that makes learning about the world around us easier.
Music Provides:
Repetition that reinforces learning.
A rhythmic beat that helps coordination.
Patterns that help in anticipation as to
what come next.
Melodies that capture our attention and hearts in enjoyment.
Words that are the building blocks of language and literacy.
MUSIC SUPPORTS MANY DEVELOPING SKILLS
Music Can:
Build relationships, communicate feelings, and provide comfort.
Help young children share, make friends, and feel comfortable in a group setting.
Foster language development through stories, rhyming, and rhythm.
Develop individuality by allowing children to discover their own sounds and unique styles of music.
Launch creativity by allowing children to fill in missing words, discover their own sounds and unique styles of music.
