Take Five Dance Academy Alumni

"...a depth of determination that continues..."
I matured greatly in the years I spent at Take Five, both as a dancer and a goal oriented person. It was a magical environment where we challenged and pushed each other in a positive, inspiring way. I discovered a depth of determination that continues to propel me in my career and life. I’ve spent the last 10 years since leaving Phoenix, traveling and performing around the world, touring on Cher’s “Living Proof” Farewell Tour, a member of the Original Broadway Cast and 1st National Tour of “Saturday Night Fever,” 2 years dancing in a variety of movies like “Rent” and “Be Cool.” My greatest accomplishment is still to come and I look forward to experiencing and sharing it!

I graduated from the studio in the summer of 2004. At the time I was a dancer for the Phoenix Mercury Hip-Hop Squad. Since then I joined The Young Americans following my friends and fellow alumnus Ashley Rentfro and Alssya Kennedy. With the Young Americans I have performed in many places in California as well as filmed a Radio Show with Mark Walberg. I currently attend Riverside Community College and recently played the prince in Swan Lake. I have started to get my foot in the dance scene in LA and have a dance agent through DDO Artist Agencies. In January I flew to Germany and began teaching dance for three cold months. As I reminisce about the good ol’ days as a student I always think back on how much hard work we had to put forth as students just to match that of our teachers. I miss Miriam’s smile when we accomplished success, Alyce and her impossible but aspiring teachings, Meredith’s strict yet very necessary training, and Maryanne’s guidance, generousity, and love. Those teachers and more helped me get to where I am today and where I will be tomorrow. Best Advise? “Point Your Feet” in the direction of your dreams and you will always be moving forward towards your own definition of success.

Dancing with Take Five has given me a lot of confidence and great ability. Without the training of Maryanne, Alyce and Tracy I would not be the dancer or person I am today. The best piece of advice I received was from Alyce. She told me that she could teach anyone technique, but she could not teach someone the desire to dance. Since then I’ve danced with the passion in my heart and it has done nothing but great things for me. I truly love dancing and plan to make it a big part of my future. I want to dance on crusie lines and peform like crazy when I’m done with my education. I’m teaching for TFDA now and I really enjoy passing knowledge onto the kids.
